“I looked at the apprentice route rather than going to college or university because I could earn a salary and keep on learning. Out of about 20 applications for apprentice positions, I had a couple of ‘phone interviews but many didn’t even respond. When I applied to Westwood, I attended an assessment centre where the company director and Salad Skills’ staff team explained what the apprenticeship would involve, telling me all about the training and ongoing support I’d have. Later that same day, they offered me a place which then developed into the full time position I have today. Right from the start, it was handled in such a professional way. I felt Westwood and Salad Skills had a vested interest in me and were both genuinely interested in me doing well. Westwood has a strong ethos for recruiting and ‘growing’ its own staff and I’ve been a part of that. I attended award-winning Starting Off, one of Salad’s recommended training companies, on a day-release basis for sales training so my education has carried on for me as I’d hoped.”
Westwood Associates won a 2013 National Training Investors in People Award for Apprenticeship Employer Newcomer of the Year.
