The government have increased the incentive payment for hiring a new apprentice before 30 September 2021.

Incentive payments for employers who hire a new apprentice by 30 September 2021 have been increased.
Employers will receive £3,000 for new apprentices of any age who join their organisation from 1 April 2021 to 30 September 2021.
The incentive payment is in addition to the £1,000 employers already receive for hiring an apprentice:
- aged 16 to 18 years old
- under 25 with an education, health and care plan or who has been in the care of their local authority
Before 1 April 2021, employers will have received:
- Apprentices aged 16 to 24, employers will have received £2,000
- Apprentices aged 25 and over, employers will have received £1,500
These payments must be applied for before 31 May 2021.
For all apprentices joining your organisation from 1 April 2021
Employers will receive the £3,000 incentive payment for new apprentices of any age who join their organisation from 1 April 2021 to 30 September 2021.
This must be applied for apply for between 1 June 2021 and 30 November 2021.
What you can use the payment for?
The incentive money can be used for whatever your organisation wants and the money doesn’t need to be paid back.
The original incentive is only for new apprentices joining your business between 1 August 2020 and 30 September 2021. And the enhanced payment is only for new apprentices joining your business between 1st April 2021 and 30th September 2021.
You cannot apply for the incentive payments if your apprentice stated before these dates but their course/programme started during the dates. It is all based on their employment start date.

You can apply for the incentive payment after you add new apprentices to your apprenticeship service account.
You must set up an apprenticeship service account to apply.
